Last week, we learned about Length.
First, we created a mind map with the relevant Maths language. Our mind map included words like "short", "shorter", "shortest", "tall", "taller", "tallest", "long", "longer", "longest".
Then, we completed a cutting activity. We cut strips of paper and ordered them from tallest to shortest. Check out the photographs below!

Let's Get Measuring!
Learning about length was active! We used lollipop sticks to measure some classroom items. We worked with our pods and had an area of the classroom to work in. We focused on measuring from the start/edge of the item and leaving no gaps between each lollipop stick. We had lots of fun!
We extended this learning to measure how tall we are. We used non-standard units of measurement such as cubes, lollipop sticks and links. Again, we worked with our pods, taking turns to measure one another. We reminded each other to measure from the tops of our heads to the bottom of our feet. We had great fun learning by doing!
We had a conversation about standard units and non-standard units of measurement. Can you think of some examples? Perhaps you can find some at home?
