Stars in Our Eyes!
Recently, we have been learning about Space. To compliment this learning, we decided to make stars from clay.
A wire was used to cut the clay. First, we explored the clay using our hands and fingers. We discussed the colour and texture of the clay and if we liked or disliked how it felt in our hands. Then, we made a list of ways in which we could manipulate the clay. This list included words like "pinch", "roll", "squash", "stretch", "twist" and "press".
Finally, we rolled, squashed and pinched the clay into the form of a star. There was great (and messy!) learning in this. We had lots of fun!
We've learned that stars shine brightly and that they could be either white or yellow. We painted our stars one of these colours.
We were so happy to take them home today!
