Monday:
1. English - Tricky Words: Child writes each word on a piece of paper and puts them into a bowl. Child then pulls one word out of the bowl, reads the word and thinks of a sentence containing the word. Repeat the step.
2. Maths - Pattern: Make patterns using a variety of different objects. You could make patterns using Lego, make a pattern using items from the kitchen like fork spoon cup/fork spoon cup, etc. The adult can make a pattern that the child can extend. The child can then make a pattern for the adult to extend.
3. Maths - Number: Practice your number formation 0-5. You can write the numbers on paper, on a whiteboard, make them using Play Doh, etc. A worksheet is uploaded below.
4. History: Story: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
If you have this book at home, please read it with your child. Alternatively, there is an animated film and a read-aloud with the author on You Tube. Click here to see an animated film. Discuss the book. What happened first ,next, etc. Did you like the book? Why/Why not?

Tuesday:
1. English - et word family: Think of some words that belong in the ‘et’ word family (get, set, net, met, etc.). Your child can try to write a list of -et words. There is a worksheet below to practise -et words.
2. Maths- Number: Write the numbers 0-10 on individual pieces of paper. The child can try to do this on their own, parents may need to assist with some numbers. Mix up the numbers. The child can put the numbers in order 0-10. To make the activity a little trickier, The child can try to put the numbers in order 10-0. Please see the video attached as a demonstration. Keep the number cards to be used again.
3. Maths - Patterns: Children can draw their own patterns. These could include letter or number patterns, shape patterns or image patterns e.g. sun sun moon/ sun sun moon. Encourage your child to think of more complicated patterns where appropriate. Remember, a pattern must be a repeated design!
4. History- The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle: Listen to a read-aloud of the story with the author. If you have the book at home, invite your child to tell the story of the pages in their own words. If you are watching on YouTube, you could lower the volume/pause the video to enable your child to do this.

Wednesday:
1. English - ‘ch’ sound: Revise the sound and the action. Identify words that begin with or contain the ‘ch’ sound. The children can try to read the following words: chin, rich, much, chat, lunch. Here are some words that contain the ‘ch’ sound. Do the cut and stick worksheet based on the ‘ch’ sound. Feel free to write the words if you don’t have any glue.
2. Maths - Number: Using the number cards you created yesterday, show the children a number and ask them to make a set containing that number of items. To make a set, draw the appropriate number of items on a page and draw a ring around them OR find that number of items and put them inside a hula hoop, skipping rope or lunchbox. To extend the activity, you could ask the children to make a set that has one more/one less/two more items, etc.
3. Maths - Pattern: Here is a game where you can complete shape patterns. There are 3 different levels. Use the challenge cards (below) to copy patterns using blocks.
4. History: Discuss on what day of the week the caterpillar ate particular foods. Create a grid of the days of the week and draw/stick the foods the caterpillar ate in the correct place i.e. draw/stick an apple in the space/column for Monday. Please find a grid example below. Use it as your grid to inspire you or create your own. Keep your grid for tomorrow’s activity!

You will need:
- Green, brown/black, yellow and red paint
- One paintbrush
- Look at some images of the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
- Discuss the colours and shapes of its body.
- Discuss with your child how they can create a Handprint Hungry Caterpillar using only the resources listed above.

Option 2 - Paper Chain Caterpillar
You will need:
- Green, red and black paper (if you just have white paper but you do have crayons or markers, you could use those to colour the paper!)
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Glue
- Look at some images of the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
- Discuss the colours and shapes of its body.
- Discuss with your child how they can create a Hungry Caterpillar using only the resources listed above.
